• Producers will have to include minimum recycled content in all plastic packaging.
The European Parliament has approved the revised Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), introducing stricter goals for plastic waste reduction and mandatory use of recycled materials.
The new framework sets clear targets to reduce packaging waste by 10% by 2030, 15% by 2035, and 20% by 2040, compared to current levels.

Producers across the EU will be required to ensure minimum recycled content in all plastic packaging types, while enhancing traceability and transparency in material flows.
This legislation is part of the European Green Deal and aims to make the EU economy more circular and less dependent on virgin resources.
Final approval by the EU Council is expected in early 2026.
