European PA6 prices rise in August as feedstock costs increase

European contract prices for nylon 6 (PA6) increased in August, according to market information published by ICIS on 26 August.

The upward adjustment was primarily linked to higher feedstock costs, which increased pressure on European PA6 producers and supported higher contract settlements.

PA6 is one of the key engineering thermoplastics used across European manufacturing, including automotive components, electrical and electronic applications, industrial parts, fibres and other technical products. Changes in PA6 pricing can therefore have a direct impact on converters, compounders and manufacturers operating further down the value chain.

The development is particularly relevant in the current European market environment, where producers continue to face pressure from production costs and competition from imported materials.

For converters and buyers, however, the ability of suppliers to maintain further price increases will also depend on demand. Cost-driven increases can support producer price targets, but weak downstream consumption may limit the extent to which additional increases can be transferred through the supply chain.
