New study: EU circularity regulation to reshape global recycled plastics demand
2025.10.24 - 10:00
A new international report shows that European circular economy policies will redefine global demand for recycled plastic materials by 2030.
A study by ICIS and the China Petroleum & Chemical Industry Federation reveals that EU circularity policies — notably the PPWR and ESR regulations — will trigger a 30–40% increase in global demand for recycled plastics by 2030. The analysis highlights Europe’s leading role in setting international standards for traceability and recycled content while warning of a shortage in high-quality secondary raw materials. It recommends greater investment in both advanced mechanical and chemical recycling to meet the expected demand.
